What jobs can I get with a TESOL certificate?
Question:
What jobs can I get with a TESOL certificate?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
Individuals with TESOL/TEFL certificates often qualify for positions that involve teaching the English language fundamentals, including vocabulary, grammatical structure, phonics, sentence structure, to a certain demographic (e.g., school-aged children, teenagers, young adults, older adults, etc.). Growing in popularity, especially right now given the current pandemic, online ESL companies can be a great way for English professionals to not only familiarize themselves with the educational field of ESL but also earn a potentially lucrative supplemental income. Generally speaking, a prospective virtual ESL instructor will need to have the following qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university (a bachelor's degree in an educational field is HIGHLY preferred)
- Either a TESOL or a TEFL certificate from a regionally, nationally, or internationally accredited institution (completion of a traditional ESL instruction program from an accredited 4-year university is considered the gold standard within the industry)
- A state-issued teaching license/certificate is usually preferred, not necessarily required.
