Essential Information

While there are few, if any, online programs in hotel maintenance, many schools offer online undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs in hotel and hospitality management. These programs often require courses on hotel operations, which cover maintenance functions at a managerial level. There are also some online certificate programs in hotel operations that offer information on hotel maintenance.

While many of the courses are completely online, some degree programs are hybrids that require on-campus work as well. Students can view lectures online as their schedules permit, and they can interact with classmates and instructors through e-mail, message boards, and chat functions, which typically require students to have a microphone and specific hardware and software components to use. Many degree programs also require that students obtain hands-on experience through internships and learning labs.

Courses in a hotel management degree program may include human resources management and food service management. At the graduate level, students may study computer systems, financial analysis, and business strategies. Master's-level students may have to complete a thesis or project. In a certificate program in hotel operations, students take courses in the basics of the hospitality industry.

Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Maintenance

These programs typically result in a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Hospitality Management or Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in hotel management.
