Answer:
An APNP is a type of Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) that is prepared to prescribe medication. This kind of nurse has go through the necessary educational and practical requirements to earn a national certification that enables them to prescribe the required medication to patients.
To become an APNP, you will first need to become a licensed registered nurse. This involves getting a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) and passing the NCLEX-RN examination to get your registered nurse certification. After getting your degree and your license you will be able to apply for a master of science in nursing (MSN). This degree will allow you to get an APRN certification to become an APNP. After getting your master's degree you will be able to apply an APNP certification. Apart from the degree, most licensing agencies will require a certain number of clinical practice hours to be eligible for this certification. The number of hours tends to be around 500, so as you progress through your education you should try to get as many clinical practice hours as you can.
After meeting the requirements and passing the examination, you will be a certified Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP).
