Do you need a license to be a criminalist?
Question:
Do you need a license to be a criminalist?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
In the United States, criminalists are not obligated to obtain a license, so it is strictly optional. To become a criminalist, one must graduate from high school. They can choose to pursue a bachelor's degree in forensic science or any related field because most employers look for a higher degree. Even most criminalists today are pursuing a master's degree to get better job opportunities. Many people can get their forensic science or natural science degrees online, even if a bachelor's degree is not feasible for them. Even though certification is not mandatory, many criminalists gain enough experience in the field to qualify for higher-paying jobs by getting a certificate. The American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) offers many certifications. To obtain those certificates, one must attend the exam and have a minimum of two years of experience in this particular field.
Most criminalists get hired after achieving a master's degree. They have to undergo various training processes to get into the field as crime scene investigators or forensic science experts.
