Answer:
In the U.S., becoming a veterinary doctor generally takes 8 years. This involves going through an undergraduate program and then completing veterinary school. Most veterinary programs require four years of undergraduate courses. As a result, pre-vet students usually have a bachelor's degree before attending veterinary school. During their undergraduate program, pre-vet students take a lot of science-based courses like biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, zoology, and animal science. Once they complete their undergraduate program, they need to attend a four-year veterinary program that awards a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree after completion. These programs include both traditional classroom classes and a significant amount of supervised clinical experience. Veterinary students have to complete at least one year of clinical rotations in order to earn a DVM degree. After they complete this program, they will be able to get a veterinary license.
