State Regulations for Online High Schools in Virginia
The state of Virginia recognizes the importance of offering virtual education to students. Although not in a traditional setting, a virtual high school will follow the state's Standards of Learning. Many of the county school districts offer online programs for resident students that comply with public school standards.
Students also have the option to utilize the Virtual Virginia program, which is geared toward ensuring all students have the opportunity to take courses not offered by their home district. Courses include honors, advanced placement, and foreign languages. Students must enroll in this program via their home district.
