Minnesota is the 10th highest state in the world in spending on social services. A social work program is to help the human being and meet the basic and complex needs of people who are poor, oppressed, or vulnerable. The programs of social work offered by many colleges. Those colleges are named as University of St Thomas, Bemidji State University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, Augsburg University, St. Catherine University, St. Cloud State University, and St. Olaf College. All of these colleges offer a bachelor's degree and master's degree in social work program. The bachelor's level degree in social work program focused on making the students familiar with developing the human rights of the oppressed people and focused on prevention and intervention methods that help the depressed population. A strong foundation is to prepare for the graduate students at advanced clinical practice, the Master of Social Work program completed in one year for those students who have an accredited bachelor's degree in social work and two years for under-graduates students. The purpose of this program was to help the poor population of the state, sought out the problems of the people, and focused to make a profound impact on the lives of un-safe, unprotected people.
