Answer:

The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification is offered by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). To become certified, you first must apply to the IIA and seek to become a candidate for the CIA. The IIA will not approve your application unless you meet the minimum education and work experience requirements. If you do not have a degree, you must have at least seven years of experience in the internal auditing industry. If you have an associate's degree, you must have at least five years of experience. With a bachelor's degree, in any discipline, the work experience requirement is reduced to two years, and with a master's degree, the IIA requires only one year of work experience. If the IIA approves your application, you must pay the certification fees and pass the certification exam. This is a challenging exam, so you need to study to prepare for the exam. The IIA offers study guides and other assistance, such as practice tests, that can help you prepare for the exam. You also can attend classes that will help you learn the material covered on the exam. Once you pass the exam, which is offered in three parts, you will become certified as a CIA.
