Do dental schools care about extracurricular activities?
Question:
Do dental schools care about extracurricular activities?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
Extracurricular activities relevant to dentistry or the qualities that dental schools look for in applicants can be added to the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) application.
The AADSAS application has a section where you provide information about experiences you have participated in that are relevant to dental school admissions, and extracurricular activities, such as competitive teams or student organizations are a category you can list experiences for. You can also list volunteer work, dental shadowing, and other experiences. The AADSAS instructions advise checking with the admissions office of the programs you are applying to, and ask how they categorize an experience if you are unsure of where an experience fits. They also advise to only include experiences from the ten years prior to application, and those that took place at the collegiate level or higher. Details on entering experiences and descriptions of the categories are available on the AADSAS application website.
