Can a CNA take the medical assistant exam?
Question:
Can a CNA take the medical assistant exam?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
In most cases, a certified medical assistant will not be able to take the medical assistant exam. This is because most medical assistant certification bodies require their applicants to have completed a state-accredited medical assistant training program. A medical assistant program can take up to two years to complete, while a nursing assistant program can be completed in months. Thus, a medical assistant exam might be too advanced for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) without the right preparation.
Despite this, if you are a certified nursing assistant and want to take the medical assistant exam, you might have the opportunity to transfer some credits from your CNA training program to complete the medical assistant training program faster. Some of your CNA knowledge and skills will help you to finish a medical assistant program in less time. You will be able to take the medical assistant exam after you complete your medical assistant training program.
