What dental assisting schools are Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited?

According to the American Dental Association, the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) has accredited approximately 241 dental assisting programs in the United States. These programs are offered through community colleges and technical schools. Some CODA accredited dental assisting programs can be found at:

• Phoenix College (AZ)
• Diablo Valley College (CA)
• Manatee Technical College (FL)
• Albany Technical College (GA)
• Kapi'olani Community College (HI)
• Kaskaskia College (IL)
• Wichita State University Campus of Applied Science and Technology (KS)
• Northern Essex Community College (MA)

Upon completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting programs, graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Dental Assisting (CDA) exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). State requirements for dental assistants differ. While certification from a CODA-accredited program may not be required to work as a dental assistant, certification may be necessary when performing certain duties. Students trained through hands-on training or by a non-accredited dental assisting program must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience prior to taking the CDA exam.
