Answer:
Physical Therapist Assistants employed in Massachusetts are required to renew their licenses every two years on or before their birthday through the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals: Division of Professional Licensure . The standard renewal fee costs $100. Additional fees may apply depending on the applicants individual needs which may include a request for name change, duplicate license, late renewal fees, returned checks, online payment returns, wall certificates, or certified statements of registration. Applicants will be charged $57 extra to renew a license that has expired.
Physical Therapist Assistants in Massachusetts must successfully complete a two-year college PTA program and pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for PTAs prior to applying for licensure. First-time applicants generally receive approval from the board to obtain their license within 3-4 weeks after taking and passing the NPTE.
PTAs applying for a renewed license are not required to complete continuing education credits during their two-year renewed periods, although the board does highly recommend they do so to stay up to date with any laws/regulations that have changed in the physical therapy profession in the state of Massachusetts.
