Answer:

Commonly, anyone can become a home health aide even without formal education as long as they follow the training requirement in their state. However, each state has different regulations when it comes to certifications for this career. In Indiana, having the federal training requirement is enough to get you a job. This includes completing a minimum of 75 hours of training, including a minimum of 16 clinical hours. The trainee must complete 16 hours of classroom training before undertaking clinical training. Also, 12 hours of continuing education every 12 months. The continuing education must be under the guidance of a registered nurse done in an approved agency.

Furthermore, the state of Indiana mandates home health aides to (a) pass a competency evaluation program that addresses each of the subjects listed in the state rule, and (b) to be entered on and in good standing on the state aide registry

It is also important to note that home health agencies have the freedom to establish their own regulations on qualifications and training requirements.
