Program Description:
Virginia College's Surgical Technologist Diploma program is designed to teach students the skills required to assist in an operating room during a wide range of surgical procedures. Surgical techniques for general, neurological, vascular, reconstructive, and other surgeries are addressed. Classroom and lab instruction is combined with a clinical externship that provides students with the opportunity for hands-on learning in medical settings. Program coursework covers anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology, surgical equipment, and up-to-date surgical technology. The program is offered at Virginia College's Mobile, Alabama, campus.
