Students who wish to enter the Certificate in Cosmetology program should have earned a high school diploma or the equivalent. They should have some experience or an interest in working in a salon or similar setting.

Program Description:

Virginia College's Certificate in Cosmetology program is designed to prepare students for several careers in the beauty industry. The program consists of 1,500 hours of instruction and hands-on experiences. The curriculum addresses hair styling and shaping, coloring, massage techniques, nail services, skin care, and salon management. Students also study cosmetology laws, safety, sanitation, skin and nail disorders, and chemicals used in the cosmetology business. The program is offered at three Virginia College campuses.
