Brandman University's Single Subject Teaching Credential (2042) is designed to satisfy California state requirements for educators seeking to teach a specific subject in that state's public schools. Introductory and foundational topics addressed in the program include classroom management theories, learning theories, collaborative methods, instructional and assessment strategies, classroom diversity, and legal issues in special education. Students could also have the opportunity to study English language development standards and strategies, English language proficiency assessment methods, vocabulary and literacy strategies, and content-specific instructional techniques for various subjects including English, math, social studies, science, health science, and visual arts. Supervised field experiences in actual elementary or middle school classrooms are also included in the curriculum.
