Program Prerequisites:
Prior to enrollment in Brandman University's 2042 Multiple Subject Credential program, students should have earned a passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) or Multiple Subject California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET), and they might have already earned a bachelor's degree in education. All candidates must be fingerprinted and receive a certificate of clearance. They also need to submit a negative tuberculosis test, and they must be CPR certified prior to student teaching. Admission requirements for Brandman University graduate programs can vary by program.
Program Description:
Brandman University's 2042 Multiple Subject Credential program is designed to provide current or aspiring teachers with the opportunities to develop teaching skills needed to instruct in a variety of content areas. Students will have the chance to learn instructional strategies based on Common Core standards in areas of math, language arts, science, history, social science, and visual arts. Courses are also designed to help students build classroom management and collaborative skills. A two-part directed teaching experience allows each student to work with a master teacher in an actual elementary school classroom.

Students may choose to apply to a master's degree program to further develop relevant knowledge and skills or to focus on a specialized educational field. While the 2042 Multiple Subject Credential could be pursued as a stand-alone program, students may also choose to complete the credentialing program in conjunction with Brandman University's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT).
