About University of Central Florida
The University of Central Florida (UCF) is the second largest university in the United States in terms of student enrollment. UCF's main campus is located less than 15 miles from downtown Orlando, and the school has ten regional campuses scattered across central Florida. UCF is a public university and was ranked number 177 by U.S News & World Report in its list of best national colleges.
Academics
UCF offers over 200 majors through its 12 colleges. Popular undergraduate programs include elementary education, marketing and general finance. UCF offers online courses, including over two dozen degree and certificate programs that can be completed entirely online. The library system, consisting of regional and branch libraries, includes a health sciences library and a library devoted to solar energy research.
Students at UCF are eligible to take part in semester-long internships while earning academic credit. The school offers over 40 different study abroad programs in more than 20 countries. UCF receives over $100 million each year for research funding.
Admissions
To apply to UCF, you must submit an online application, an application fee, high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores. If applicable, college transcripts, GED and TOEFL or IELTS scores must also be submitted. Students are also encouraged to submit an essay. Application deadlines are May 1st for the fall semester, November 1st for the spring semester and March 1st for the summer semester.
The student body is made up of students from all 50 states and over 140 countries. There were 33,968 applicants in fall 2011; 45% of those applicants were admitted, and 41% of those admitted chose to enroll. In fall 2011, 75% of UCF's undergraduate students were full-time students.
Tuition & Financial Aid
The total annual estimated cost for tuition at UCF for the 2012-2013 academic year was $16,692 for residents and $32,791 for non-residents. Estimates include tuition, fees, living expenses and books. UCF offers several merit-based scholarships. The Office of Student Financial Assistance offers students assistance with applying to scholarships.
