About Trinity Washington University
Trinity Washington University, founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, is located on a 26-acre campus in Washington, D.C. This was one of the first Catholic undergraduate colleges for women in the United States and is currently home to the Trinity Center for Women and Girls in Sports. Trinity Washington University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and belongs to the Consortium of Universities of the District of Columbia, which includes American University, George Mason University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Marymount University, and University of Maryland, among others.
Academics
Trinity Washington University's School of Nursing and Health Professions, School of Education, School of Professional Studies, and College of Arts and Sciences confer bachelor's and master's degrees. In 2011, the greatest number of bachelor's degrees conferred were in the fields of psychology, nursing practice, and business administration and management; the greatest number of master's degrees conferred were in the fields of educational leadership and administration, business administration and management, and counselor education/school counseling and guidance services. In addition to ROTC, study abroad, teacher certification, distance learning and weekend/evening courses, students can utilize job placement help, career counseling, academic counseling and remedial academic help.
Admissions
The school evaluates students based on their applications, secondary school GPA, secondary school record that demonstrates a college prep curriculum, and recommendations. Standardized test scores are required, either SAT or ACT; non-native English speakers are also required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language scores. Students seeking regular admission must submit application materials by September 1. In fall 2011, 1,346 people applied for admission. There were 91 male applicants and 1,255 female applicants. Of those who were admitted, 42% enrolled.
Tuition & Financial Aid
Tuition rates vary by program. In 2012-2013, students enrolled full-time (12-18 credits) in programs offered through the College of Arts and Sciences paid $10,275 per semester; part-time students paid $655 per credit. Undergraduate per-credit tuition for School of Professional Studies programs was $510, and graduate per-credit tuition was $685; tuition for the MBA program was $725 per credit. The School of Nursing and Health Professions' undergraduate nursing program cost $655 per credit. The graduate per-credit rate for School of Education classes was $685. These figures did not include fees. Per semester room costs during that same school year ranged from $1,880-$3,000. Board costs ranged from $2,525-$2,836.
Students are eligible for state and federal student aid awards and additional aid directly from Trinity Washington University. Depending on the school in which they're enrolled, students have access to a variety of Trinity Washington University-sponsored scholarships, some of which include the Girl Scout Troop Leader Scholarship and the Women in Housing and Finance Scholarship.
