About Rose State College
Rose State College is a 2-year public school located just outside of Oklahoma City, in Midwest City, OK. The college offers traditional and flexible education programs, such as online programs and programs with classes held in the evenings and on the weekends. The school's 125-acre main campus houses 25 buildings. Rose State is accredited by the Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Academics
Rose State College operates five divisions: Social Sciences; Humanities; Health Sciences; Business and Information Technology; and Engineering and Science. Through these divisions, the school offers approximately 60 certificate and associate's degree programs. Classes in these programs run in two, four, eight and 16-week terms and may be available online.
The school also operates a Workforce Development division. This division offers a number of community outreach programs, including children's programs, environmental training and career advisement.
The college also has an honors program, with honors-specific courses and a dedicated facility within the Fine Arts building. The college also works with technology centers in the area to provide programs allowing students to receive vocational training in technology while earning an associate's degree from Rose State.
Admissions
Applications can be submitted online or in-person. Applications must include high school transcripts or GED test scores and either ACT or SAT scores. Students without ACT or SAT scores are required to take the school's COMPASS placement test. Note that the school's health sciences and paralegal programs have additional admission requirements. Rose State accepts CLEP, AP and DANTES scores for credit, though the credit given is only be applied to a student's record after the student has completed 12 semester hours.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition in the fall of 2011 was $75 for in-state and $265.10 for out-of-state students per credit hour. All students are also assessed student activity, facility, special assessment, cultural and recreation, computer and technology, academic records maintenance and library automation fees that total $19.50 per credit hour. There is also a $2 student identification fee per semester, as well as fees specific to certain programs and classes.
Students at Rose State can receive financial aid in the form of loans, grants or scholarships. The school also offers work study programs.
