The university reached a record high in the state of Oklahoma, enrolling 4,289 freshmen in the Fall of 2012. In total, Oklahoma State University athletes have won 29 Olympic medals, and the university's NCAA Division I-A athletic teams have a total of 50 national team championships within the Big 12 Conference. Academics
Oklahoma State University is comprised of nine schools and colleges, including the Graduate College and the Honors College. Undergraduates may choose from over 200 majors, and the school is home to several nationally recognized degree programs, including those in agriculture, engineering, and restaurant management.
The Spears School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and offers 17 degree programs through seven academic departments. The school is home to the most popular area of study - general business administration and management - for both bachelor's and master's degree-seeking students. Within the school's Department of Management, students may pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in professional, full-time, and part-time formats. Dual-degree options are available as well.
Students at OSU can apply their academic studies to scholarly research projects through nearly 70 research centers and facilities. The Freshman Research Scholars program allows approximately 60 students to participate each year. This program requires a freshman participant to learn about basic research skills, engage in a research plan with the guidance of a mentor, and share research results with peers. Many government-affiliated agencies have funded or requested the research assistance of OSU students and faculty, including the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Admissions
For admission, students must complete and submit an application, SAT or ACT test scores, and official high school transcripts. In order to receive Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit, students must have a minimum score in the subject area for which they wish to gain credit. Graduate admission requires a degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, in addition to any program-specific requirements.
The student population at OSU represents over 90 countries across the world. As of Fall 2011, 86% of undergraduate students attended the university on a full-time basis; 51% of undergraduates were male, while 49% were female.
Tuition & Financial Aid
For the 2012-2013 academic year, residents of Oklahoma pay an estimated $7,650 in tuition, while non-residents pay around $18,860. Residents and non-residents alike pay $8,350 for room and board and $1,080 for books and supplies. Graduate tuition per credit hour is $178 for residents and $709 for non-residents. Over 80% of OSU students receive scholarships or other forms of financial aid. Freshmen can take advantage of 10 different scholarship opportunities, including the National Merit Scholarship, the Academic Excellence Scholarship, and the Non-resident Achievement Scholarship. Graduate assistantships are available to offset the cost of graduate tuition; more than 1,700 graduate students are employed in assistantships at the university.
