About Northwestern College

Since Northwestern College (or simply Northwestern) first opened its doors in 1902 as a missionary school, it has maintained a Christian-based educational approach. Today, the college serves students via its 107-acre campus in the Minneapolis-St. Paul suburb of Roseville on Lake Johanna.

Academics

Northwestern offers students around 50 undergraduate and graduate degree options through 14 departments. Every major offered at Northwestern includes a minimum of 30 credits of Bible-focused education. Popular undergraduate programs include psychology and business administration.

Northwestern also offers distance learning programs, including bachelor's degree programs in both biblical studies and global studies. The school also offers more than 50 individual courses online in addition to an online biblical studies certificate.

Admissions

Northwestern evaluates applicants based on a number of factors, including school records, overall GPA, and SAT/ACT scores. The university recommends that students complete a college-preparatory program prior to applying. Applications, which can be completed online, require a $40 fee and must be submitted by July 15 for fall admission.

During the 2011-2012 school year, 1,289 individuals applied for admission to Northwestern, and about 75% were accepted. The total student body at Northwestern comprises about 3,000 individuals. As of 2011, roughly 66% of these students attended the university full-time.
