About Montgomery County Community College
Montgomery County Community College operates two campuses in Blue Bell and in Pottstown, PA, with satellite learning centers in Willow Grove, Lansdale, Conshohocken, and Norristown. For its use of technology, the college was ranked number one in the United States by the Center of Digital Education in 2008, 2009, and 2010. It was also recognized by the President's Honor Roll for Community Service, the highest honor for community service that an institution can receive, in 2007 and 2008. The college has more than 30,000 alumni.
Students can take participate in student-led activities and organizations such as a jazz club, a college radio station and a writer's conference. The college boasts small class sizes, a technology center with an observatory and a fine arts center.
Academics
Students at Montgomery County Community College have the opportunity to earn an associate's degree or certificate. Those interested in transferring to a 4-year university might take advantage of the school's Associate in Arts, Associate in Science or Associate in Fine Arts programs. The Associate in Applied Science and Associate in General Studies programs are typically designed for students seeking employment upon graduation.
The college offers 59 areas of study divided into five academic divisions. Majors include art, social sciences, theatre, nursing and real estate, to name a few. Some of the programs, such as liberal studies, business administration, accounting and office management, offer courses online.
Both the Pottstown and Blue Bell campuses have libraries, including an AV library. Students have access to government documents and grant resources through the Brendlinger Library in Blue Bell. The college also provides workforce development and continuing education programs.
Admissions
Admission is open to applicants who are either high school graduates or who possess a GED. Potential students can also enroll by obtaining approval through the Early Admissions program or by passing a series of assessments that shows the ability to excel in postsecondary education. In fall 2011, 59% of students who attended the college were full-time, while 41% were part-time. Students may apply at any time.
