About Cape Cod Community College

Cape Cod Community College, located in West Barnstable, Massachusetts, was established in 1961. It was the second institution out of 15 to join the community college system in Massachusetts. The school's Lyndon P. Lorusso Applied Technology building opened in 2006, and is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) 'green building' built in Massachusetts with state money. Cape Cod is accredited by New England Association of Schools and College, Inc.

Academics

Cape Cod Community College offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and certificate programs through seven academic departments. These departments covered the topics of arts and communication; health sciences; business; language and literature; natural sciences and applied technology; mathematics; and social sciences, behavioral sciences and human services. In 2010-2011, the most popular programs for students who attained an associate's degree were health, liberal arts, and business. Health, engineering technology, and natural resources-conservation were the top programs for those who earned a certificate.

In order to enhance learning experiences, the college provides study abroad opportunities, distance learning courses, and weekend-evening classes. Cape Cod provides employment services, on-campus daycare remedial services, placement service for completers, and academic-career counseling as well.

Admissions

Cape Cod Community College endorses an open-door policy. Applicants are admitted on a first come basis if they are eligible and if there is a vacancy in a program they want to apply for. A completed application form must be turned in by the priority filing dates of August 15th for the fall semester and January 10th for the spring semester. An official high school transcript, official college transcripts, or GED must be submitted to continue the admissions process. Home-schooled students without a GED or high school diploma are eligible for admission if they have finished an approved home school program that follows the requirements of the Massachusetts General Laws or laws of the home state.

Tuition & Financial Aid

For spring 2013, the tuition per year at Cape Cod Community College is $5,010 for Massachusetts residents and $11,190 for out-of-state residents. Part-time residents pay $167 per credit hour, while part-time non-residents pay $373. Other fees students may have to pay include an allied health student drug test fee, dental hygiene program fee, paramedic program fee, nursing program fee, and assessment retest fee. Massachusetts residents that are possibly eligible for tuition waivers include students aged sixty years old or over, Native Americans, veterans, active duty service workers, clients of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission or the Commission for the Blind, or the surviving spouses or children of the 9-11 tragedy.
