About Bay de Noc Community College
Bay de Noc Community College, located in Escanaba, Michigan, was founded in 1962. In November 2012, Bay de Noc, or Bay College as it's more commonly known, was named a 2012 Leader College by the national non-profit group Achieving the Dream. The college was one of 14 institutions that showed improvement in critical student achievement measurement areas. Bay de Noc is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Academics
More than 500 students per year graduate from Bay College, and students can choose from associate's degrees and certificate programs in many areas ranging from natural resources to business to music. The school's Honors Program allows qualified students to participate in service learning projects, attend lectures or conferences and take specific courses designed for the program.
The college also offers online courses. Students can find several resources for academic support, including the TRiO program, a math and science center and a student success office. Bay de Noc Community College's computer center has an open computer lab, a graphics design lab and computer classrooms.
Admissions
In order to be admitted to Bay de Noc Community College, applicants must complete an online application. If high school seniors are interested in a scholarship, they must submit a current high school transcript. Students also need to provide proof of residency, which can be sent to the Bay College Admissions Office. A scanned e-mail copy is also acceptable.
The third step in the admissions process is to provide placement test scores from ACT or Compass tests to the school. Aspiring students can also apply for financial aid and are required to attend orientation at the college.
Tuition & Financial Aid
The tuition for Delta County residents during the 2012-2013 school year is $99 per contact hour, $154 per contact hour for Dickinson County residents, $177 per contact hour for Michigan residents and Wisconsin residents residing in reciprocal areas and $297 per hour for out-of-state residents. Depending on their program, students may have other fees, including those for student development, technology, art materials, labs, liability insurance and nursing assessment, among others.
Students who are seeking financial aid can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form and get information and assistance from the school's financial aid office. Incoming and current students can find scholarship options, and a payment plan is available.
