About Arkansas Tech University

Arkansas Tech University's primary campus is located in Russellville on a sprawling 533-acre campus. Located between the mountains of the Ozark National Forest and Ouachita National Forest, students enjoy rather spectacular views year-round.

Since it's founding in 1909, Arkansas Tech has continued to evolve into a major institution of higher learning within the region. Today, the university is ranked as one of the top two universities in Arkansas in terms of graduation rates and listed as one of the most affordable among the top five universities within the state, according to the university's website in 2011.

Academics

Arkansas Tech offers around 85 degrees and 16 technical certificates to over 10,400 full-time and part-time students. Programs are offered through seven academic colleges, including the College of Applied Sciences, College of Natural and Health Sciences, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Business, College of Education, Graduate College and College of Professional Studies. The faculty is comprised of over 400 full-time and part-time instructors.

Prospective students have a variety of educational programs available to them at Arkansas Tech. For instance, students can select from majors such as accounting, political science, early childhood education, or journalism, to name a few. The school offers around 37 minors as well to round out the undergraduate degree programs. Pre-professional programs are available in pre-dental, pre-dental hygiene, pre-medical, pre-law, pre-pharmacy, pre-physical therapy and pre-veterinary medicine. Students seeking technical certificates can choose from a variety of studies, such as air conditioning and refrigeration, business technology, and law enforcement.

Arkansas Tech's campus offers a large number of options for student activities. For example, students might enjoy the John E. Tucker Coliseum where various concerts, conventions and sporting events are held year-round. Additionally, the Doc Bryan Student Services Center offers access to student government, publications and a range of recreational activities. The on-campus Arkansas Tech Museum features both archaeology and early history exhibits of western Arkansas.

Admissions

Arkansas Tech University accepts applications for admittance on a rolling-basis throughout the year and there is no application fee. Requirements for admission include submission of official SAT or ACT scores along with the most recent secondary school transcript. The school awards credit for applicable AP and CLEP credits that have been completed by incoming students.
