2. Salve Regina University

Salve Regina University, located in Newport, is a private Roman Catholic school that opened in 1934. It is a small school with under 3,000 students; nevertheless, it offers some of its degree programs online and is one of the few schools in the state to offer an online RN to BSN degree.

This degree program comprises 125 credit hours. 58 of those credits may be applied from work experience as an RN. You can also transfer other credits from your ADN degree or other college experience. At least 30 credit hours must be obtained through Salve Regina to graduate from the program.

The online RN to BSN program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Students studying full–time, and who transfer enough credits, can graduate with their degree in just 12 months.

This program costs as little as $288 per credit hour for students who work at hospitals partnered with Salve Regina. Non–partnered students pay $340 to $350 per credit hour.

3. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

Southern Illinois University's Edwardsville branch offers many online degrees that are available to students throughout the U.S., including Rhode Island. One of these is an accelerated RN to BSN program.

This degree program is flexible to accommodate the busy schedules of working RNs. Those who want to complete their degree quickly can do so in as little as three semesters of full–time study. All classes are offered in eight–week blocks.

Courses cost $320 per credit hour for undergrad students and $627 per credit hour for graduate students.

5. University of Massachusetts Dartmouth

Part of the University of Massachusetts system, this school offers many different types of degrees online. You can choose from the fully–online RN to BSN program or the hybrid ABSN program.

Though the hybrid program requires some in–person learning, the campus is not far from any point in Rhode Island, so it would be a good option for students who have to commute. Students already holding a bachelor's degree are eligible for the program, which can be completed in 17 months.

6. University of Rhode Island

The University of Rhode Island is the largest school in the state with an enrollment of just over 18,000 students. Its main campus is located in Kingston, but it has several satellite campuses throughout the state, as well as a generous offering of online degree programs.
