Texas Christian University is a co-educational research institution and is one of the largest universities affiliated with the Christian Church. The school was founded in 1873 and serves a student population of more than 11,900 individuals per year. The university offers undergraduate degree programs in 118 areas of study, as well as master's degree programs in 56 areas of study through four academic colleges.

The Department of Art & Art History within the College of Fine Arts offers two graphic design programs, a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, for those interested in pursuing careers in graphic communication and multimedia production. Students gain a solid foundation of design theory, technical design skills and basic visual arts principles while also completing core liberal-arts classes. Other courses related to graphic design and multimedia include typography, interactive media and editorial graphic design. Studies also include a creative internship, completed between junior and senior years, and completion of a professional portfolio.
