The University of Maryland Global Campus offers classes online and in-person at locations throughout the Baltimore area as well as internationally in Europe and Asia. UMGC provides a broad range of programs dedicated to security and protective services at the bachelor's and master's degree levels. The university also features a Center for Security Studies, ideally situated near government resources in the Washington, D.C. area for maximum homeland security training opportunities. The center serves as a hub for conferences and workshops and offers research tools and partnerships with public and private sector security organizations.
UMGC offers two bachelor's degree programs related to security. The Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security is for students seeking to develop the knowledge and technical groundwork for careers in homeland security, while the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program is geared toward helping students understand the broader criminal justice system. Graduate-level options include a Master of Science in Management with concentrations in homeland security management and criminal justice management. The homeland security management track prepares students for entry-, mid- and high-level job opportunities in homeland security while the criminal justice management program was developed to offer students a thorough overview of the structural possibilities of law enforcement agencies.
