There is only one school in Colorado that offers training in radiation therapy. Students can earn a certificate in radiation therapy. There are no programs in Colorado designed for individuals new to the field. The certificate program is for registered radiologic technologists.
Community College of Denver (CCD)
CCD offers a certificate program in radiation therapy through the health sciences division at its Lowry Campus in Denver. This radiation therapy certificate program is designed for registered radiologic technologists looking to enter the radiation therapy field, as well as individuals who've completed a radiologic technology program. Students complete 44 credit hours of training in areas such as oncology practice, oncology pathophysiology, sectional imaging and treatment planning. The program also includes three internship experiences, as well as simulation and skills labs.
Career Requirements
The state of Colorado does not require licensure for this profession. Students can obtain national certification in radiation therapy through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). To be eligible for certification, candidates must complete an ARRT-accredited program and pass an exam, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
