There are several school options for students in Dallas who are seeking a pharmacy technician education. All but one of these schools are for-profit institutions. Based on school population and school type, the following institution is considered a top school for pharmacy technician studies in the Dallas area:
- Winner: Tarrant County College, with several locations in the Fort Worth, Texas, area, is about 30 miles from Dallas and offers a variety of healthcare career programs. The college is the only public school and the largest in the Dallas area providing a certificate program for aspiring pharmacy technicians.

Tarrant County College (TCC) is a public, 2-year school offering more than 80 areas of study. The college has five campuses in Fort Worth, Hurst and Arlington, the newest of which opened in 2009 in downtown Fort Worth. In addition to associate degree programs, TCC offers certificate programs and continuing education courses. Certificate programs, licensure examination preparation courses and professional development programs, including those for healthcare careers, are offered through TCC's Continuing Education Services.
Courses in the 360-hour Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Completion program instruct students in established Pharmacy Technician Coordinating Board competencies and include pharmacy law, pharmacy mathematics, computerized drug delivery, drug classification and pharmacotherapy. Applicants to this program must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening. Students who complete the program are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for pharmacy technicians. A clinical experience allows students to perform tasks such as drug inventory, prescription verification and prescription fulfillment in a professional setting.
