About Lehigh University

Lehigh University is a research institution that was founded in 1865 and is located on a large suburban area of land. In total, Lehigh University sits on 2,358 acres, which makes it one of the country's largest private universities in terms of area; the university also has 180 acres of playing fields available to its students. While it is located in suburbia, Lehigh is in close proximity to two major cities: New York and Philadelphia. Greek life is popular at Lehigh, and the university offers its students access to 9 sororities and 21 fraternities, which about 40% of all students at Lehigh participate in.

Lehigh University is home to approximately 4,700 undergraduate and 2,200 graduate students. Over 90 majors and programs are comprised of 2,000 courses available throughout the four schools at the university. Lehigh University offers its undergraduate and graduate students 12 different degrees; all undergraduate students will receive either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. The four colleges of the university are the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Education and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Study abroad courses are available to Lehigh students in 40 different countries around the world, and there is also a course located in Washington, D.C. Students are also encouraged to participate in internships and cooperative learning opportunities.

Regular decision applications are due to Lehigh on or before January 1. Students will be notified of their acceptance by April 1, and must then respond to the university by May 1. In addition to the application, which can be completed online, students must submit letters of recommendation, secondary school reports, an essay and standardized test scores. SAT subject tests are required only for placement, though an SAT or an ACT score is required for all undergraduate applicants. Students will be evaluated based on their application, level of interest in the university, academic GPA and high school rank. Students are encouraged to set up an interview with the university prior to the application deadline.
