1. Alamo Colleges District

The Alamo Colleges District is a system of community colleges in and around San Antonio, Texas. It offers a hybrid IV therapy program.

This program is primarily for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) to gain an understanding of intravenous insertion, maintenance, and removal.

By the end of the program, students should be able to demonstrate competence in intravenous therapy management and maintenance.

The program takes about four weeks to complete and offers a certificate of completion for successful students.

2. American Association of Phlebotomy Technicians

The American Association of Phlebotomy Technicians (AAPT) is a voluntary, independent national certification agency for phlebotomists based in Baltimore, MD.

It offers an intravenous certificate course for allied health professionals that presents the core skills required to become familiar with intravenous therapy.

The course is on-site and takes two days to complete with training for three hours a day. Students receive hands-on training with life-like mannequins.

3. HeartCert

HeartCert is a company from Minnesota that offers training in first aid and CPR as well as other medical training both online and through locations across the country.

It offers an in-person IV training course for health professionals that provides hands-on practice in vascular access procedures under the supervision of an experienced instructor.

Each class comes with a certificate of completion that can be used to submit for continuing education credits and will give students the knowledge and confidence to assist with IVs.

4. IV Mastery

This class prepares participants for initiating and maintaining common intravenous therapies.

It's made up of ten modules, and each module includes a video and quiz.

Upon completion of this class, students will earn a Certificate in IV Management and Care. The program is available in 40 states.

5. National IV Association

The National IV Association (NIVA) is an independent body that promotes high standards of professional practice and excellence through training and certification for those who provide IV services.

It offers a 100% online, self-paced training course that includes PDF study guides, videos, and interactive lessons.

Upon successful completion of the course, students can take NIVA's national IV exam and earn national IV certification.

6. Phlebotomy Career Training

Phlebotomy Career Training is an accredited private career college in Dearborn, MI. It offers a fully online IV technician certification program.

Courses cover topics like proper IV techniques and intravenous line establishment. Students receive an IV venipuncture simulation kit to practice and perform their skills in IV insertion.

This program is self-paced and can be completed in as little as four weeks. Students will need to pass the online certification exam to receive their IV Technician Certification.

7. Rutgers University

Rutgers University is a public research university based in New Brunswick, NJ. It offers an IV therapy training course through its school of nursing.
