Career Information for IT Jobs Without Customer Service

Web Developer

Web developers work on designing and publishing websites. They make sure that the appearance of the website is strong and pleasing to consumers, but they also are trained to manage and fix technical issues related to performance. They must know programming languages to do this. They do meet with clients and work with team members, but their focus is on websites, not on handling requests from customers. They need at least an associate's degree in web design or something similar.

Video Game Designer

Designers of video games use computer programs to create graphics and animation. They focus on what interests players in order to produce games that will sell well. As they work on games, they must work independently before bringing their project to the team. They don't deal with customer service issues. They need to have a bachelor's in design, computer graphics, or something similar, as well as experience in the field.

Computer Scientist

Computer scientists are problem solvers when issues in computing arise. They must design or even invent new ways to use technology in order to overcome these issues. Most often, they work on computing problems in science, medicine, and business and work for these types of organizations. Their focus is on computers, not on customer service. They usually need a Ph.D. in computer science or something related.

Computer Hardware Engineer

Computer hardware engineers do a lot of research and design on computer systems and their hardware, such as hard drives, circuit boards, and routers. Their discoveries produce fast advances in the computer technology industry. They work in research laboratories and do not interact with customers or the public. They need a bachelor's in this field.

Computer Network Architect

Network architects work closely with computers to develop data communication networks. They design and build local area networks (LANs), intranets, and wide area networks (WANs). They may also work on configuring cloud infrastructures. Their jobs center on computer networks, not customers or customer service. They need experience in this field and a bachelor's degree related to computers.
