Temple University was founded in 1884 and currently serves the academic needs of about 38,800 students through 17 colleges and schools. These include the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the largest school of this type in the Philadelphia area, which offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) in Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The BS in Tourism and Hospitality Management program allows for a concentration in either hospitality management or the design of tourism experiences. Requirements for the major include courses in decision making, finance, hospitality law and marketing; undergraduates also take 12 credits through the university's Fox School of Business and Management. The 18-month MS in Tourism and Hospitality Management program offers concentrations in tourism and hospitality marketing or hospitality operations. Core requirements include courses in brand management, customer relationships, new media and revenue management; the program culminates in a thesis.
