Allegany College of Maryland

Allegany College is a public, community college with a main campus located in Cumberland, Maryland. Currently, the school enrolls over 2,800 students in credit-bearing programs; another 14,000 students are enrolled in continuing education courses. Allegany College offers 47 associate degrees, as well as several certificate programs.

Associate of Applied Science in Hospitality Management

Allegany College offers an Associate of Applied Science program in hospitality management with an area of concentration in hotel and restaurant management. Students take courses in business, supervision, menu planning, beverage management and hospitality marketing. To complete this degree, students are expected to complete off-campus internships where they receive on-site training and work experience. Some of these internships take place at a college-owned restaurant located in downtown Cumberland.

Wor-Wic Community College

Wor-Wic Community College is located Salisbury, Maryland. The school was founded in 1975 and offers both credit and non-credit courses. Many students that attend Wor-Wic Community College transfer to nearby Salisbury University to complete 4-year degrees.

Associate of Applied Science - Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Management

Wor-Wic's hospitality management program provides students with insight into hotel, motel and restaurant facilities management, supervisory management, accounting and law. To complete this degree, students must complete 60-62 credit hours of courses, covering topics as diverse as principles of food preparation, lodging operations, sanitation and safety and principles of accounting. The program also requires field experience and on-site training during the final semester. Credits earned in Wor-Wic Community College's program can also be applied toward a bachelor's degree at many 4-year institutions, both within and outside of Maryland.
