Central Louisiana Technical Community College

Central Louisiana Technical Community College has six different campus locations and offers criminal justice training at its Oakdale campus. This school offers an associate's program and a diploma program in criminal justice. Students can earn technical certificates at particular exit points within the diploma and associate's programs. The diploma and associate's programs include technical certificate options in general criminal justice studies, general police studies, general criminal justice theory, and general legal studies.

The diploma program requires completion of 53 credits of criminal justice coursework, while the associate's program adds 15 credits of general education classes to the diploma requirements. Course options include criminal investigation, criminal justice ethics, corrections, and police systems. Students may also be able to complete a criminal justice externship towards the end of their programs.

Northshore Technical Community College

Northshore Technical Community College is located in Bogalusa. This school has a 53-credit diploma program in criminal justice as well as a 68-credit associate's program. Students can earn a Certificate of Technical Studies in the field after completing 45 credits of coursework. Additional short-term certificates may be earned at specific points throughout a student's program. Courses that students may take include criminal law, criminology, judicial process, and criminal investigation. Towards the end of the diploma and associate's programs, students can also participate in an externship.

Sowela Technical Community College

Sowela Technical Community College is located in Lake Charles. The public college has several certificate program options available. The general criminal justice studies certificate program includes courses in corrections, criminal justice, and police systems and practices. The 36-credit criminal justice system studies certificate program focuses on juvenile delinquency and the judicial process, in addition to other topics that are included in the shorter certificate programs. The 45-credit diploma program includes all of the courses in the certificate programs, in addition to ones that cover forensics and drugs, crime, and criminal justice. The 60-credit associate's program can be completed in four semesters and includes all of the coursework in the diploma program, in addition to general education courses. The diploma and associate's programs also offer externship opportunities.
