What language you will want to learn largely depends on where you will want to work (for example, if you plan to work with a company in the States that has close ties with a Canadian branch or counterpart, learning French might give you an edge), but there is one major language that will certainly put you on another level compared to other candidates without it: Chinese.

China is the closest competitor with the United States for the most powerful country in the world in the finance/business sector, and therefore being fluent in Mandarin would most definitely put you ahead of the game when seeking a career. With over a billion speakers of Mandarin Chinese in the world, it is by far the most versatile choice of second language for someone looking for a career in business and finance.
