New York University (NYU) does not utilize early action. However, they do offer early decision, which is considered to be a binding admission process. This means that students who apply to NYU under early decision and are admitted are obligated to attend the university. NYU offers students two different opportunities to apply under early decision. The first early decision application deadline is November 1st. Students who apply by this date will receive an admissions decision by December 15th. The second early decision application deadline is January 1st and that group of students will receive an admissions decision by February 16th.

In terms of the application itself, there is no difference between early decision and regular decision other than the deadline and review timelines. In other words, the application itself and the required materials are the same. It is important to note that the cut-off time for applications is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
