Medical assistants perform various routine tasks and procedures in many different medical settings such as hospitals and clinics. Medical assistants provide patients with support with daily tasks, taking their vitals and ensuring that patient records are completed, maintained and organized.The term medical assistant 1 refers to an individual who is responsible for assisting the physician with patients by providing patient care according to established standards and practices. A medical assistant 2 carries out the same responsibilities, but are just placed at a higher level due to education and experience. The number associated with the title of a medical assistant refers to where they are placed based on levels. The highest level for a medical assistant is 3.
