Answer:

A CAAHEP-accredited program is a program that has earned specialized or programmatic accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. This accreditation ensures that the programs offered by an education institution (for instance, the medical school, the law school, the nursing program) follow the standards set by the accrediting agency. These Standards are developed by the professionals in each discipline and reflect what a person needs to be educated and be able to perform successfully within that profession. Each program under the CAAHEP accreditation has to meet these standards, and the agency is designed to evaluate to ensure these standards are met. The accrediting body has been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and it is also a member of the ASPA (Association of Specialized & Professional Accreditors).

Accreditation in the disciplines of health serves an important public interest. Apart from certifications and licensure, it acts as a tool to help assure that workforce is qualified and well-prepared to provide health care services. It is a review of a program, service, or institution, not an individual. The CAAHEP does not provide certification, registry, or licensure of individuals. The body assesses the quality of programs, services, and institutions and reviews them to meet the quality standards of each profession. It accredits more than 2100 education programs in 32 health science occupations.
