Getting master's degree or one year of postgraduate study makes the candidate eligible for high level positions. Having prior experience with the federal government may be considered as a relevant eligibility criterion. Apart from educational qualifications, aspiring immigration officers must have excellent communication skills, know a foreign language and familiarity with technology. According to Payscale, the median salary as in the year 2020 for all immigration officers was $59,810.
