The Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) is a program that is in many colleges and universities across the country. The two universities in Tennessee that house NJROTC programs are University of Memphis and Vanderbilt University. The programs at these schools are undersigned to develop students in future Naval officers. The Department of Naval Sciences aims to instill the principles of Honor, Courage, and Commitment into their students. The Vanderbilt program is of the same cloth as Memphis except they are grooming for Marine Corps officers as well as Naval officers. Both of these campuses have cross-town affiliates, colleges that visit NJROTC housed programs to participate in NJROTC. University of Memphis' affiliates are Christian Brothers University and Rhodes College. The affiliate campuses for Vanderbilt University are Belmont University and Tennessee State University. This leads to a total of six colleges and universities that have NJROTC programs in some capacity for students to apply to.
