Ohio State University is the only college in Columbus, Ohio to offer an ultrasound technician program. The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at OSU offers a four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Sonography.
To be considered for admission to the B.S in Sonography program at OSU, applicants must have earned at least a 2.5 GPA or higher on prerequisite coursework needed prior to entering the program. Some of the prerequisite coursework needed for entry into the program include English, Human Physiology, Sociology, Anatomy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math and Psychology. The program curriculum consists of 154 credits. This includes prerequisite coursework, electives, and program specific coursework.
Upon completion of the B.S program in Sonography, students are able to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers certification exam. As of 2021, Ohio does not require ultrasound technicians/sonography technicians to be state licensed or certified, but most employers prefer applicants to be certified or licensed when applying for a position.
