Answer:

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) does not receive national accreditation. They receive regional accreditation through the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) located in Burlington Massachusetts. In addition to SNHU, NECHE grants accreditation to colleges and universities in Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Vermont. NECHE receives recognition from the U.S Department of Education.

There are many programs at SNHU that receive special programmatic accreditation in addition to NECHE. Some of these programs include:

  • Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) - undergraduate and graduate business programs
  • Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) - undergraduate and graduate nursing programs
  • Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) - undergraduate elementary education programs
  • Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) - undergraduate mechanical and aeronautical programs
  • Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) - undergraduate health management programs.

SNHU receives a full review of their programs and institution every 3-4 years through NECHE and specialized program accreditation agencies. For general info on SNHU, check out this link: SNHU.
