Answer:

At some colleges and universities, public relations can be a concentration or area of emphasis within a business major. But many colleges and universities offer public relations as a major. These schools also usually offer public relations as a minor. When part of another major, public relations is more likely to be studied under communications or journalism, rather than business administration or a related business major, such as finance.

But some public relations programs do include coursework in business topics, such as economics, principles of management, finance and budgeting, and principles of marketing. Other courses typically found in a public relations curriculum include principles of public relations, media communications, public relations writing and editing, public relations research, web design for public relations, technology in public relations, branding and public relations, legal issues and ethics in public relations, public opinion and persuasion, and public relations campaigns.

Even though public relations is not generally a business major, many individuals who major in public relations work in business. For example, public relations majors hold positions in corporations and other businesses such as public information officer, marketing manager, social media manager, government liaison, salesperson, and lobbyist.
