There are two Oracle Java certifications, Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP). These certifications are aimed at two different kinds of Java professionals. The OCA certification is designed for entry-level professionals that want to start their careers in this field. This certification is very useful to find an entry-level job that allows you to join the workforce in a short amount of time. Preparing to get this certification involves earning certain knowledge and skills that will make you a better Java programmer. There are a lot of employers that tend to prefer certified professionals over non-certified ones, thus, earning this certification is definitely a good choice. Since getting into the technology field does not necessarily require having a degree, working to get this certification to start a career in this field is a very good path. An OCA will give you a great advantage when working within the Java framework. Nevertheless, if you want to reach higher positions, you may have to get an OCP certification.
