CNA stands for Certified Nurse Assistants, professionals who work under the supervision of a licensed/registered nurse. They do patient care in hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities, and other health departments. They can work in this capacity only after passing a certification exam at the end of the particular state-approved CNA course, as per the Federal Regulations. The course includes patient care, medical procedures, human anatomy, human physiology, physical therapy, nutrition, etc., and consists of classroom sessions, as well as practical training at hospitals, nursing homes or extended-care facilities. The programs may be held in community colleges, vocational schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and adult education centers. To qualify for the CNA certification exam, one must have 75 hours of training. The prerequisites of admission to CNA program include a high school diploma/GED(General Educational Development) score, physical exam, background check, and any additional conditions specific to the educational institution. As per the U.S.Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job opportunities of Certified Nursing Assistants are expected to rise 9% from the year 2018 to 2028.
