Answer:

No age is too old to start a career or change jobs as long as you can physically and mentally do the required work. According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released in May 2020, job duration is actually longer for people who start careers after age 24. According to the study, 57 percent of Americans who started jobs while ages 18 to 24 changed jobs in less than a year. Only 37 percent among those who started jobs while ages 25 to 32 ended their jobs that quickly. A LinkedIn report recognizes that people change careers for many reasons at all stages of life, so starting a career at 27 fits into the norm. Younger workers between the ages of 18 and 35 change jobs or start new careers to seek opportunities for advancement. Workers over 35 often completely change industries if they are unsatisfied with senior management or the work culture in their field.

An AARP advisor suggests that anyone who considers themselves older than others in the job market should seek jobs that utilize skills already acquired through education and previous job experiences. If a perspective employee needs to gain additional education to fulfill a career change, the advisor suggests knowing which occupations are expected to grow quickly and be in demand for workers.
