Answer:

If you wish to work for another company, transferring your credential is one of the top things you must consider. While working as a forklift operator you have probably been trained with your current company, certified, and issue a forklift operator card. If your forklift license is still valid but you are planning to change employers you can submit it as a certification to the new employer, but most probably it will not be accepted more than as evidence of qualification.

Each employer has different training requirements and different safety standards and rules. Although most companies provide safety training according to the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and regulations, the new employer will also have their own rules which you must be trained in and follow.

In all cases, the new employer must provide you with appropriate training, evaluation, equipment, and guidelines for your new role as a forklift operator. According to OSHA, all operators that will drive in different environments and workplace conditions will need to undergo training with the new employer. Furthermore, if the operator will operate a different type or class of forklifts that they are not used with, then they must also be trained in equipment-specific issues.
